Privacy at a glance

This Privacy Policy explains how IHOR.DEV handles information when you use Shimeji Whiskbyte. The Extension has one clear purpose: Shimeji Whiskbyte adds one interactive animated browser pet to web pages. The pet can move around the page, react to user interactions, play, rest, and display simple care states such as hunger, thirst, energy, and mood. All features support this single purpose: providing a virtual browser companion while the user browses the web.

NO_REMOTE_DATA_COLLECTION

No personal information, usage analytics, browsing history, or page content is transmitted to IHOR.DEV or any third party.

1. Information processed or collected

The Extension performs only the processing required to provide the feature or service requested by the user:

Cursor coordinates and recent movement samples are held only in page memory to drive reactions and are cleared on unmount. Selection handling checks only whether a range exists and is non-collapsed; selected text is never read or stored. Page contents and browsing history are not read or retained. Pet commands contain an allowlisted command name only.
Cursor activity, selection contents, page content, browsing history, settings, and care state do not leave the device. The welcome page's Start button opens Google only after a user click; this is ordinary navigation and sends no extension data.

Local processing happens within your browser and does not mean that IHOR.DEV receives or stores the information.

2. How permissions are used

The content script matches only http://*/* and https://*/*. Automatic appearance on ordinary web pages is essential to a browser pet, so this core site access is declared directly rather than requested as optional access. No broader scheme or host permission is declared.

storage: Keeps the user's pet settings, five care levels, shared sleep/anger state, and normalized positions for four pet-world objects on the local device.
activeTab: Lets the user-invoked toolbar popup send an allowlisted pet command to the currently active supported page. It does not grant ongoing browsing access.

Permissions are not used for advertising, profiling, analytics, creditworthiness, or any purpose unrelated to the project's user-facing functionality.

3. Remote code

NO_REMOTE_CODE

Shimeji Whiskbyte does not use remotely hosted executable code. All JavaScript, CSS, animation logic, and extension functionality are included directly in the extension package. No executable JavaScript or WebAssembly code is downloaded or executed from external servers.

4. Storage, retention, and deletion

Only four local storage keys are written: whiskbyteSettings stores enabled status, pet name, pet gender, name-choice status, automatic sleep, and sound preferences; whiskbytePetState stores hunger, thirst, energy, litter, fun, and a local update timestamp; whiskbyteSleepState stores sleeping status, a bounded anger-event identifier, and a local update timestamp; whiskbyteWorldLayout stores optional food, water, litter, and bed positions as normalized horizontal ratios. All values are normalized and rebuilt from an allowlist before persistence. During install or update initialization, legacy whiskbyteNotes is deleted without changing valid pet settings or care state.

6. Security

Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used to protect information handled by this project.

7. Children's privacy

This project is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.

8. Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The Extension’s use of information is limited to providing or improving its disclosed single purpose.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the project’s functionality or privacy practices change. The revised date will be published on this page.
